Denis Savard: A Brief Look Back

Denis Savard was one of the most dynamic players to ever lace up the skates. He was drafted in the first round, 3rd overall, in the 1980 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He began his career during the 1980–81 NHL season in which he had three assists in his first game. He then went on to score 75 points as a rookie. That was just the start.  Take a look at the video below to see some of his highlights:

One Response to Denis Savard: A Brief Look Back

  1. I remember getting to the old Chicago Stadium as soon as it opened to the public (6:00? 6:30?) to make sure that I was in the stands to welcome Denis back home when he returned for the first time with Montreal. I knew it would be an emotional moment for him and, even though there was hardly anyone there yet, I wanted to be there to applaud and thank him for all of the thrills he provided (especially “The Goal” against Edmonton) and packing the Stadium again. People forget, Bobby packed it, Denis packed it, and now Rocky has packed it. It was bleak before Denis appeared, too. One of the most exciting players I’ve ever seen, and I started watching when there were just the original 6 teams. THANK YOU!
